About the presentation
The proliferation of Cybecrime in recent years as driven the Sûreté du Québec to rething how it investigates cybercrime related events. In 2017, a dedicated cybercrime team was created to offer a better police response to these events, the Cybercrime Investigation Unit. The first part of this talk will offer a brief presentation of this unit, and how, with the help of its national and international partners, it fights cybercrime.
The second part of the talk will feature a brief case study of a Remote Access Trojan investigation that took place in Quebec in recent years.
About the speaker
Sergent Marc-André Piché is a team leader at the Sûreté du Québec’s Cybercrime Investigation Unit since 2017. This unit is tasked with investigating major “computer as a target” events throughout the province of Quebec, as well as providing support to other police officers in their technological investigations.
Before joining this unit, Marc-André has worked five years in a technological forensic unit where he was tasked with the analysis of seized computers and electronic devices.
